Google “AI Overviews” Ranking Factor: Evidence of String Match Bias

It’s been a while since I took a stats course so I wanted to confirm these were terrible correlations and happened on an interesting finding that reinforces the idea of trying to win in the long tail maybe.

Here AIO says “0.4” is “weak”, and basically string match on the source used (right hand side)…

Meanwhile “0.40” (same number) is considered “moderate” and similarly, basically a match on two decimal places on the right for the range of 0.20 to 0.39. And this holds when searching for “is 0.4 spearmans a weak correlation?” vs “is 0.40 spearmans a weak correlation?”
